Freedom of movement: what we want
>WE WANT THE ADOPTION OF:
-a European Accessibility Act
It should lead to common accessibility requirements across the EU covering goods and services. EDF wants it to take the form of a Directive and underpinned by European standards or complementary legislation. The scope must be ambitious as possible in order to have a tool that ensures that persons with disabilities can participate in society on equal terms with other citizens. Accessibility of goods and services will also contribute to a better functioning of the internal market.
The disability movement has released its answer to the consultation on the European Accessibility Act:
EDF Response to the Public Consultation with a View to a European Accessibility Act
-a European Mobility Card
It could facilitate travelling to another Member State for persons with disabilities. This card would allow them to access certain services under the same conditions as nationals with disabilities. It would have a harmonised design and be based on mutual recognition of existing cards.
