A Europe free of barriers ensure in the Treaty should guarantee freedom of movement for all, in line with the principle of non discrimination. Reliable information in accessible format is a key to allow equal possibilities to travel, and particular measures should also be adopted in order to ensure that persons with disabilities will receive the assistance they may need prior to and during their journey by adequately trained personal.
The "TAP TSI" (Technical specification on rail interoperability on telematic applications for passengers) is a tool drafted now in the European Commission for implementing the information- and reservation obligations under the regulation on the rights of rail passengers.
The rail passenger regulation includes a specific chapter on passengers with disabilities, and, in addition, an annex which states what minimum obligations railway undertakings have in relation to information provisions.
