Human Rights Report

The true extent of how poverty and social exclusion affect persons with disabilities in the EU.

It highlights that EU countries have largely failed at reducing poverty faced by persons with disabilities. It shows how, in all EU countries, persons with disabilities are more likely to be poor and unemployed than persons without disabilities. It presents actions that the EU, it's Member States and other European Countries should take to improve the situation.

Ensuring the rights of persons with disabilities to equality and non-discrimination in the European Union. The report includes a review of equality frameworks in each EU Member State and a section on multiple and intersectional forms of discrimination.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This report showcases to decision-makers and organisations of persons with disabilities and the link between the CRPD and the SDGs in Europe and in international cooperation. Your rights as a person with disabilities in the European Union (EU). In a situation where your rights are breached, or you would like some more information, our website provides a list of the agencies that you can reach out to. Finally, it also explains the challenges that remain for persons with disabilities.

Joint report with Human Rights Watch unveils discrimination faced by students with disabilities in so-called European schools, a network of 13 intergovernmental schools primarily teaching children of EU institutions employees. The report counts with data and testimonials explaining the difficulties in seeking for and receiving reasonable accomodation, which is often denied. 

Joint report withd CERMI Women’s Foundation which raises awareness on how to prevent and end forced sterilisation of women and girls with disabilities. It explains the negative consequences of forced sterilisation on the enjoyment of all human rights for all women and girls with disabilities. It highlights the close relationship between this practice and the deprivation of legal capacity, and describes the current situation in Europe and beyond. FIt gives an overview of the current human rights standards and jurisprudence on the topic.

Our Alternative Report was published on the occasion of the European Union’s first ever review by the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD Committee). Its purpose is to inform the CRPD Committee on how the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD) has been implemented by the European Union.

The 2nd Manifesto on the Rights of Women and Girls with Disabilities in the European Union is a toolkit for activists and policymakers aiming at promoting the equal rights of all women and girls with disabilities in Europe.
