Virtual Conference of State Parties of the CRPD (30 November-4 December)

The Conference of States Parties (COSP) of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) is an annual event that gathers State Parties to the Convention, disability experts, organisations of persons with disabilities, and other civil society organisations, to discuss the state of implementation of the Convention. The session that usually takes place in June, in the headquarter of the United Nations in New York, was rescheduled due to the global pandemic. It will take place virtually from 30th November to 4th December.

  • 30 November: opening and CRPD Committee’s elections (In-person for member states only to take part in elections) – more information about the elections
  • 1 December:virtual round tables 1 and 2
  • 2 December: virtual civil society forum, organised by IDA and Civil Society Coordination Mechanism
  • 3 December: virtual closing session and International Day of Persons with Disabilities celebration
  • 4 December: other virtual side-events and meetings

Registration for NGOs with ECOSOC status and NGOs Accredited to the Conference of State Parties is now open. The deadline is 25 November 2020.

The submission period for side events is still open. Read more and apply here. Side events provide an excellent opportunity for Member States, UN entities, and NGOs to discuss the themes of the COSP and other critical issues related to persons with disabilities. The deadline to submit a side-event is 6 November 2020 by 11:30 ppm (EST – New York Time). Please read the instructions carefully before submitting your application.
