    20.08.2015 Next week, EDF and its members will be in Geneva to take part in the examination of the EU by the UN expert committee on the rights of persons with disabilities. This is the first time the EU has ever committed to an international human rights convention. The EU will receive recommendations which will influence its handling of the human rights of 80 million persons with disabilities in Europe. The constructive dialogue between the UN Committee and the EU takes place on 27-28 August in Geneva and it will be live streamed on www.treatybodywebcast.org.     29.07.2015 The disability movement gives its own perspective to the list of issues The EU has signed the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD) and its work to implement the Convention is now reviewed by the UN Committee in Geneva. The UN Committee examined the report that the EU submitted explaining the actions it has taken to apply the principles of the Convention and on 2 April 2015, it adopted a List of Issues for the EU to answer.   • European Parliament adopts Declaration on Accessible Tourism

    27.07.2015 EDF welcomes the adoption by the European Parliament of the Written Declaration 015/2015 on accessible tourism, which was launched last April by several MEPs, including Members of the Disability Intergroup. The declaration has been signed by more than 380 MEPs, showing Parliament’s strong commitment to persons with disabilities in Europe, to their right to mobility and equal access to tourism, leisure, transports and information.
