Rodolfo Cattani Biography

Board member since 1997, on the Executive Committee since 2005. Secretary General from 2009 to 2017. He was an EDF representative on various European Union’s consultative bodies, currently on the European Multi-Stakeholder Platform on ICT Standardization.

Rodolfo Cattani, born in 1941, has a University degree in Philosophy of Science from the Bologna University. He worked as a school teacher for 13 years and for almost 20 years he was Managing Director of the Italian National Library for the Blind.

He is the Chairman of the Commission for Liaising with the EU of the European Blind Union, an organisation that he has been part of since its establishment in 1984. From that date up to 1996, Mr. Cattani also occupied various positions within the World Blind Union.

Since 1997, he has been a member of the Board of the European Disability Forum (EDF), since 2005 he has been member of EDF Executive Committee. From 2009 to 2017 he was EDF Secretary General. He was an EDF representative on various European Union’s consultative bodies, currently on the European Multi-Stakeholder Platform on ICT Standardization. As an EDF representative, he was member, amongst others, of the following bodies:

Platform of European Social NGOs – Vice- President
Design for All Working Group of ANEC (European Association for the Co-ordination of Consumer Representation in Standardisation).
