Markaya is a professional disability advocate working in policy and projects in the areas of political participation, health, and youth. She has over 5 years of project management experience in both EU and industry funded projects. Prior to EDF, Markaya worked as a patient advocate for an EU umbrella patient organisation. 

Before moving abroad, she worked as a complimentary healthcare provider. She has also volunteered with a variety of support organisations including food banks, youth character mentoring and mental health organisations.
