Our President speech at Inaugural Plenary on the Conference on the Future of Europe

Our President spoke at the inaugural plenary on the Conference on the Future of Europe, as part of the delegation of the Civil Society Convention on the Future of Europe.

During his intervention, he expressed our concern about the lack accessibility of the Conference’s proceedings. He also expressed concern regarding the Conference not reaching underrepresented people, like persons with disabilities living in institutions, refugees or Roma.

The Conference is a European Union’s initiative to collect the views and opinions of EU citizens regarding the future of Europe. The plenary is responsible for collecting ideas coming from two other initiatives: the Citizen’s Panels and the multilingual digital platform. The plenary will then shape the outcomes and present them to EU leaders.

The Civil Society Convention on the Future of Europe gathers 75 European networks and platforms from across Europe. The Convention scrutinises the democratic functioning of the Conference and ensures a real involvement of citizens and their representative associations.
