Giampiero Griffo Biography

Elected in 2009 Country: Italy Background Since 1985, he is Library Director at the National Library in Naples and since 1988 he is lecturer in various universities on disabilities (bioethics, human rights, etc…) He is a member of various disability organisations DPI, DPI-Europe, EDF, FID, CND (Consiglio Nazionale sulla Disabilità), FISH (Federazione Italiana per il Superamento dell’Handicap). In addition to the above activities, Giampiero Griffo participated in national and regional committees concerning disability issues set up by the public authorities and cooperated in projects on disability at national, European and international level. He is also a member of the Scientific Committee on human rights and disability of the University of Padua, Italy. He has published several articles and essays on various publications on bioethics, human rights, employment, education, universal design, social protection, statistics, research, international cooperation etc. He was a member of the Italian delegation which contributed to the drafting of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
