EDF is recruiting a Policy Assistant on e-accessibility

The European Disability Forum (EDF) is an independent NGO that represents the interests of 80 million people with disabilities in Europe. EDF is a unique European platform which brings together representative organisations of persons with disabilities from across Europe. EDF was created in 1996 by its member organisations to ensure that decisions at the European level concerning persons with disabilities are taken with and by persons with disabilities.

EDF is seeking a Policy Assistant on e-accessibility who will report to the EDF Policy and Accessibility Coordinator The purpose of the job will be to support the advocacy work of EDF in the area of accessibility to information and communication technologies (e-accessibility).

Fellowship main tasks

All tasks are to be implemented on the basis of decisions adopted by the Governing Bodies of the EDF and under the supervision of the EDF Policy and Accessibility Coordinator, in the area of the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities related mainly to accessibility of information and communication technologies.

During the fellowship, you will spend time working on:

  • Research and analysis of policies affecting persons with disabilities in the EU. This includes monitoring developments in regards to EU legislation under discussion on accessibility (e.g. Accessibility Act), and key initiatives on the ICT domain (e.g. Audiovisual Media Service Directive or Electronic Communication Code) and the implementation of adopted legislation such as the Web Accessibility Directive.
  • Drafting and preparation of both internal and external briefing documents and materials for EDF advocacy work on e-accessibility. The preparation of newsletter or website articles, reports, toolkits or position documents, among others, based on EDF priorities on this field.
  • Assisting EDF and its members in capacity building activities and campaigns. Preparation of EDF internal consultations, meetings/events aiming at increasing the influence and competences of EDF and its members in regards to accessibility to ICT, and assisting the EDF ICT expert group when needed.
  • Performing other duties as assigned. Attendance to meetings, assisting in social media campaigns, contribution to EDF’s involvement in ICT projects, relationships with ICT players, etc.

Gross starting salary: 1800€ month plus benefits

Contract: 6 months
