The European Parliament will debate political participation of persons with disabilities on the 4th of July.

Correction: the debate was moved to 5th July at 9h

Following a request by MEP Cecilia Wikström, as Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Petitions, the European Parliament will debate issues related with political participation of persons with disabilities. The debate will include the participation of the European Commission.

It is the last topic of debate in the plenary, therefore it will be discussed late in the afternoon. You can watch it in livestream (no captioning) here. We will also tweet during the debate with #DisabilityIntergroup

In March, MEP Wikström submitted a oral question on political participation of persons with disabilities to the European Commission

As the European and several national elections approach, the issue of political participation of persons with disability will be increasingly visible. The European Disability Forum adopted a Manifesto on the European Elections during the 4th European Parliament of Persons with Disabilities.
