Þuríður Harpa Sigurðardóttir is the chairman of the Organisation of Disabled in Iceland, (ÖBÍ Öryrkjabandalag Íslands). ÖBÍ is a National umbrella organisation of disabled people with different kinds of disabilities. ÖBÍ has 41 member organisations. She has worked directly and indirectly on issues related to disability and persons with disabilities for over 10 years. She has worked directly and indirectly on issues related to disability and persons with disabilities for over 10 years. She serves as president of a local divison of the National Federation of Physically Disabled People (Sjálfsbjörg) in Skagafjordur district since 2011, and she is a current vice-Chairman of the National organisation.

From 2013 to 2017, she was on the Board of Sjálfsbjörg-Home, an organisation for persons with disabilities, where people live independently in rented apartments, run by Sjálfsbjörg for a specialized state funded home and care program.

She also actively participated in ÖBI related workgroups on the implementation of the CRPD agreement, on Independent Living and many other disability rights issues.

For the last 13 years she has been the CEO of a Printing and Advertising company in Skagafjordur, publishing a weekly regional newspaper, advertising brochure and various kinds of printed material, design work and multi-media publications.
