Call for action: Questionnaire on priorities of women with disabilities in Europe

According to the latest EU data, 25.9% of the total population of women in the European Union are living with a form of disability. This corresponds to an estimated 60 million of women and girls with disabilities in the region. To ensure the rights of women and girls with disabilities, some strategies and action policies can directly focus on their needs, and this is alongside with mainstreaming gender equality in all action areas. The adoption of the new Gender Equality Strategy by the European Commission in March 2020, was the first real step toward including the rights of women with disabilities in action of combating against violence. What is clear, there is still much to do to ensure empowerment of women and girls with disabilities, and to fulfil their rights in different areas, including equal education, accessing justice, decent employment, and independent living.

To the purpose of obtaining information that can better promote policies and programs designed to support women with disabilities in the European Union, EDF is disseminating a questionnaire on priorities of women with disabilities in Europe. The survey focus is on core issues of women with disabilities in European societies, which include leadership, health, accessibility, and gender-based violence.
