EU in the World: reporting our efforts to advance global disability rights

EDF’s International Cooperation and Humanitarian Action team introduced their inaugural ‘EU in the World Report‘, highlighting our global efforts to advance disability rights in 2023 within the framework of the European Union’s external action initiatives

Aligned with the European Commision’s “Union of Equality: Strategy for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2021-2030“, the report showcases EDF’s commitment to inclusivity and human rights globally. 

Key highlights from 2023

  • Contributed to the EU Guidance Note on Disability Inclusion, fostering collaboration with EU Delegations and Organisations of Persons with Disabilities.  
  • Organised impactful events at the Conference of State Parties to the CRPD, addressing critical issues like forced sterilisation and employment skills.  
  • Linked the EU with disability experts worldwide through active participation in the European Commission Disability Platform.  
  • Advocated for inclusive reconstruction in Ukraine alongside Ukrainian Organisation of Persons with Disabilities.
  • Engaged with key European Commission Directorates-Generals to address climate action deficiencies for persons with disabilities.  
  • Participated in global climate conferences, advocating for disability inclusion in policies.
