Join the International Federation for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus to celebrate the World Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Day 2021

Today October 25 2021, our member the International Federation for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (IF) will celebrate the World Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Day 2021 (WSBHD) around the world. EDF joins their campaign under the theme “Unlock Your Right to Health”!

“Unlock Your Right to Health”

This year IF selected the theme “Unlock Your Right To Health” to bring attention to the rights of persons with disabilities as laid out in the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD). It is important that individuals with SBH and their families are aware of their human rights as per article 25 of the UNCRPD. It is equally important for healthcare providers, professionals and policy makers to understand their obligations to the UNCRPD. Therefore, IF would like to take the opportunity to raise awareness and reach worldwide actors who could unlock the rights of  individuals with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus on the World Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Day.

On this occasion, IF developed and launched a social media toolkit which provides you with key information about the WSBHD including key messages, links, hashtags, infographics to download and share on your social media for an active campaign on this memorable day.

Last but not least, IF is organising a main event on October 25 which will be divided into different chapters focusing on multiple aspects of unlocking the rights of individuals with SBH, the promotion and protection of the UNCRPD, multidisciplinary care, prevention, inclusion, need for networking, opportunity of twinning and community building. This year also, IF and Member Associations are organising side-events to the WSBHD’s main event. These events target individuals with SBH, both youth and older persons, and any other stakeholders interested in SBH and in sharing experiences and seizing opportunities to meet one another.

All information and materials in respect to the WSBHD are available on the WBSHD’s official website.
