EDF joins call on inclusive National Building Renovation Plans with the Build Better Lives campaign

On 1 December, EDF joined CAN Europe and other organisations participating in its “Build Better Lives” campaign in a joint call to the national governments to deliver ambitious, inclusive, and socially just National Building Renovation Plans.

These plans, which are an obligation under the EU Directive on Energy Performance of Buildings, are due on 31 December. They will determine not only how countries contribute to EU climate and energy obligations, but also how effectively they deliver decent, affordable, and energy-efficient homes for people across Europe.

But with the deadline only weeks away, it is not clear whether EU Member States will deliver them on time and what exactly the content will cover. EDF has been actively contacting the national governments, asking them to include accessibility as an obligation in renovation of existing buildings.

Together with the “Build Better Lives” campaign we have joined this urgent call to under line that the National Building Renovation Plans are more than an administrative requirement: it is an opportunity to build a fairer, climate proof, and more resilient future for all.
