Alexia Kountouri Biography
President of AIA
Alexia Kountouri is 38 years old and is from Cyprus. She had a stroke in May 2015. Her right side was paralyzed.
She is the Ambassador Cyprus Stroke Association and president of International Apasie Association standing next to stroke survivor and their families.
Being a stroke survivor, she has spent some time to get familiarised with her disability and develop her ways of adapting, coping and solving problems. She believes that this attitude has contributed to her positive approach to life.
Alexia’s educational background included an MSc in Social Research Methods from Sussex University in UK. She has a BA in Social Work from Frederick University in Cyprus and Belgium a graduate certificate in Entrepreneurial Spirit Improving European Welfare of De Hogeschool West – Vlaanderen, Brugge, Belgium.
She is focusing on raising awareness and educating others on stroke in young people. Alexia holds a wide range of interests and hobbies. Some of her favourites are yoga and create a blog for young survivors and reclaiming their lives after stroke. She is sociable, enthusiastic and outgoing person
