Andrew Lamb Biography

Dr Andrew Lamb is President of the European Guide Dog Federation (EGDF), where he leads advocacy and strategic engagement to advance the rights, mobility, and inclusion of guide and assistance dog users across Europe. He works closely with EU institutions, standards bodies, and industry stakeholders to promote harmonised approaches that enable greater accessibility and independence.
He has been resident in the South West of France for over 25 years and now works in a voluntary capacity, bringing a strong understanding of both national and European contexts to his role. He is actively involved in European standards development, including CEN TC452, and engages with the aviation sector—working with organisations such as ECAC, IATA, and major airlines—to improve the travel experience for assistance dog users.
Originally trained as a General Practitioner, Andrew later moved into IT, working as a solutions provider and senior systems architect. This multidisciplinary background informs his work, combining clinical insight with technical and policy expertise. He is currently leading initiatives such as the development of a European electronic verification framework for assistance dogs and contributing to EU policy discussions under the European Disability Strategy.
As a guide dog user himself, he brings lived experience alongside strategic leadership, strengthening EGDF’s role as a leading voice for assistance dog users across Europe.
