Athina Fragkouli Biography

Elected in 2009 Country: Greece Social Firms Europe (CEFEC) Background B.A. in Psychology and Applied Social Studies in 1973. From 1978 to 2000, she specialised in the field of speech and language therapy at various universities in Greece, UK and Belgium. In 2000, she completed a PhD at the University of Athens. She continues to follow seminars on speech and language therapy and on the specialized area of work integration of people suffering from mental health problems, marginalized group of people, handicapped and economic refugees. She is also a trainer on the above mentioned topics. Since 1979, she worked at the Greek Spastics Society, Mental Health Centre of Athens and Piraeus, the Society of Psychiatry and Mental Health, Institute of Mental Health for Children, Adolescents and Adults. She is a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists, founder member of the Panhellenic Association of Logopedists, founder member of the Panhellenic Union for the Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Work Integration (PEPSAEE). She is honorary President of the Confederation of European Firms, Employment Initiatives and Cooperatives for the Psychosocially Disabled (CEFEC), having served as an active chairperson 1994-1998. She has published research, studies and articles in Greek and foreign scientific magazines. She is invited to participate at ad hoc committees of the Greek Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education to study and evaluate areas dealing with training and work integration.
