Borut Sever Biography

Borut Sever born on 26th of November 1974, graduated at Faculty of Law of the University of Ljubljana on employment of persons with disabilities and obtained a university degree in Law, public Law. After the spine injury he suffered in car accident in 1992 he joined Slovenian Paraplegic Association (ZPS). After completing rehabilitation, he began working at ZPS and local DPO’s, at first on programs for disabled youth, afterwards and especially more recently in the area of legislation and human rights of persons with disabilities. 2016 he started working at NSIOS, at firs as head of the Legal department. He was elected for president of Slovenian National council of DPO’s in January 2019. He also participates in the work of other Slovenian and international disability organizations. He is one of the authors of the Alternative report on the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in the Republic of Slovenia, which he also presented to the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. A large part of his activities is also aimed at raising public awareness, as well as the disabled themselves.
