Biography

Branislav Mamojka Biography

He has a Master Study of Theoretical Physics at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the Comenius University in Bratislava, a RNDr. degree and a degree of Candidate of Mathematical and Physical Sciences. Between 1971 and 1991, he worked at the Institute of Physics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. Since 1991 to the present date, he is the Director of Centre of Technical and Information Services at the Slovak Blind and Partially Sighted Union and the President of the Slovak Blind and Partially Sighted Union (UNSS). He is also a member of the Government Council for Issues of People with Disabilities; the Chairman of the Slovak National Council of People with Disabilities (NROZP); the Chairman of EBU Nomination Committee and the second Vice-Chairman of EBU commission for liaising with European Union. Mr Mamojka has worked actively in relation to visual impairments, developing Braille codes for study, technical, and scientific texts, working on access technology for people with visual impairment, providing training to instructors and users, working on social legislation and other issues related to creation of optimal living conditions for people with disabilities. He himself is blind user of computer technology. Since 2005, he is a member of the EDF Board of Directors.
