Francisco Vano Biography

Elected in May 2019 Country: Spain Background Since he became injured in 1971, he has collaborated with different areas regarding disability including becoming a member, even as President, of associations in the Spanish sector of disability (ASPAYM, CERMI, PREDIF…). 2004 – 2015: Member of the Spanish Commission for Social Affairs, for Integral Disability Policies, and for International Cooperation. He is a member of the Board of the Spanish Forum of Justice and Disability from the General Council of Judicial Power and the author of a (year) bestselling book ‘Perdonen que no me levante’ (Excuse me for not standing up). Distinctions • Golden Cross of the Civil Order of Social Solidarity of Spain • Diplomat Friendship Medal of the Government of Taiwan • Golden Medal of the Spanish National Paraplegic Society • Honorary President of COCEMFE, in the region of Castilla y León. • ‘Official Friend of Disability’ from the Spanish Representative Committee of People with Disability (CERMI). From 2019 onwards, Official Delegate for FIMITIC as well as President.
