Ioachim Busch Biography
Joachim Busch is a self advocate from the north of Germany and has been advocating for the rights of people with disabilities for over 25 years. During his work in the metal workshop for people with disabilities, he was already volunteering for the Federal Association Lebenshilfe. He has held various positions, including serving on the board of Lebenshilfe Germany. Since 2005, Joachim Busch has also been active in the WIR group “Jetzt reden wir” (Now We Speak) of Lebenshilfe Schleswig-Holstein.
At the international level, he has actively contributed to the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), including participating in the UN CRPD State Reviews in 2013 and 2023 in Geneva. He has also attended the World Congresses in Orlando (2016) and Sharjah (2025), as well as regular conferences organized by Inclusion Europe. Most recently, he served on the Steering Committee of Inclusion Europe.
In addition to his advocacy work, Joachim Busch has been active in sports since 1977 with the German Life Saving Association (DLRG) and enjoys gardening as a hobby.
