Biography

Louise Danielsson Biography

Louise “Lolo” has been a Board Member at the European Union of the Deaf (EUD) from 2013 to 2022. One of her assignments was to lead and be responsible for the EUD’s Gender Equality working group (2017–2022).

For this reason, two European Forums for Deaf Women were arranged. The first Forum was in Spain, in  2018 and the second in France, in 2021. Several workshops were also arranged, including the first one in Norway, in 2017 and the last one in Slovenia, in 2022.
The first EUD Gender Equality Survey has also been carried out, in 2021. The aim was to get an overview of the situation of Deaf Women around in the EUD’s member countries.
Over the years, she has also been a Board Member at different organizations in Sweden:

the Swedish National Association of the Deaf (SDR) (2011–2021)
the National Agency for Special Schools (SPM) (2000–2008)
the State Special School for the Deaf and Language Impaired (Hällsboskolan) (1989–1996)

She was also Board Member Alternate at the Equally Unique, the Swedish Federation Human Rights för Persons with Disabilities in 2016–2017.

These topics were more focused on Deaf Education and Swedish Sign Language, as well as Special Education. It was also about the living situation and equal living conditions for the deaf in various areas based on a human rights perspective both at national and international level.

As a SDR representative, she was involved in a reference group for the 3-years project titled in English “Equally Unique Academy” as well as in some working groups for cooperation between relevant organizations to produce a so-called Civil Society Report “Respect for Rights?” This report was launched at the Government seminar in Stockholm in connection with International Disability Day December 3rd 2019.

As a Board Member at the SDR she had several assignments with a focus on international issues, among other as a Manager for the Congress Project “MyRight Sweden SDR” at the World Congress of the Deaf (WFD) in Istanbul, in 2015.

She was also a contact person for the SDR’s aid groups in matters of cooperation in various aid projects between SDR / MyRight and partner organizations in seven countries on four continents (2014–2018). She made some contact trips to raise the awareness of deaf people about their human rights in development cooperation with deaf organizations, among others in Sri Lanka in 2018, and via networking contacts in connection with the WFD’s International Conference in Budapest, in 2017.

Most of these assignments were based on the UNCRPD as well as on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). She has written two articles in EUD books of the series UNCRPD Implementation In Europe – A Deaf Perspective: Article 27: Work and employment (2015) and Article 24: Education (2017) Brussels: EUD.
She was born deaf, went to a School for the Deaf and then continued studying some academic programs in two Swedish Universities.

She has three degrees in the following: Philosophical candidate in Behavioral Science Program, Graduate in Psychologist Degree Program and Licentiate Degree in Graduate Program in Special Education.

She had also a working life as a Project manager, Lecturer, Evaluator and Supervisor, among others, at Stockholm University.
