What is the project about
The Act for Disability (ACT4DYS) project aims to enhance the accessibility, inclusivity and sustainability of urban mobility and development, particularly for young people and those with disabilities.

The project will do this by:
- Raising awareness of sustainable and inclusive urban development and alternative transportation among key stakeholders
- Creating innovative training materials and tools for youth and youth trainers
- Building the capacity of youth trainers and youth workers to better facilitate youth engagement in the topics of disability-inclusion and sustainability
- Developing actionable policy recommendations to support inclusive and sustainable urban mobility and development
Definitions
- Urban mobility: movement of people and goods within cities encompassing all types of transportation
- Urban development: process of planning and managing the growth and/or improvement of urban areas
Partners and EDF Role
The European Disability Forum (EDF) is partnering with several organisations for this project:
- Center for the Advancement of Research and Development in Educational Technology (Cyprus)
- Proportional Message (Portugal)
- Innovation Training Center (Spain)
- Spectrum Research Centre (Ireland)
EDF leads on dissemination and communication activities including the development and dissemination of national (BE, CY, ES, IE, PT) and transnational policy papers.
Activities and outcomes
This project includes a variety of activities:
- National focus groups to contextualise desk research and foster exchange of best practices
- Pilot workshops to test and refine training materials with target audiences
- Promotional events to raise awareness and engage stakeholders
Activities will support the development of:
- An e-Portfolio with a collection of +40 best practices in urban mobility and development
- 5 national and 1 EU policy paper with recommendations for inclusive urban mobility and development
- A simulation-based training package for youth workers and trainers
- An e-learning platform with mini-games and educational resources for the public
Timeframe
This project lasts for roughly 2 years, from December 2024 to November 2026.
