Webinar: i2i COVID-19 and women with disabilities and employment. May 2020

On May 14th, the European Disability Forum organised the fifth of a series of webinars within the framework of the i2i project (Innovation to Inclusion).

This webinar is funded by the UK Department For International Development (DFID) and was conducted in an accessible manner for persons with disabilities providing live captioning and international sign language interpretation.

It was moderated by Gordon Rattray, EDF International Cooperation Officer, with the support of his colleague Raquel Riaza, EDF Events and Administration Officer.

Ariana Almedia, gender specialist at Plan International, gave an overview about how this health crisis is impacting differently on people depending on factors such as identity, disability, social economic status and location. She also shared a list of resources.

Misti Ashrafun Nahar, Executive Director of Women with disabilities Development Foundation (WDDF), brought the perspective of women with disabilities in Bangladesh during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Farooq Ahmed, Secretary General of the Bangladesh Employers’ Federation, spoke about the role and the responsibility of the business organisations, including DPOs and NGOs.

Finally, there was some time for questions at the end and it was announced that another webinar will be organised on gender and employment but the date is still to be confirmed.
