Vacancy: Senior International Cooperation Policy Officer.

The European Disability Forum (EDF) is seeking an enthusiastic and committed team member to work on international cooperation policies, based in our secretariat in Brussels.

EDF is a non-governmental European umbrella organisation set up to represent organisations of persons with disabilities at EU level. Its membership includes 98 member Organisations including European NGOs and National Federations of organisations of persons with disabilities. EDF’s mission is to promote the equal opportunities and human rights of persons with disabilities towards the European Union.

Tasks are described in detail in the job description.

The ideal candidate has:

  • A strong commitment to EDFs mission and values
  • Proven experience in positions with tasks closely related to the ones described in the Job Description,  including experience and knowledge on the rights of persons with disabilities, CRPD and international cooperation;  working with organisations of persons with disabilities or other human rights organisations.
  • At least five years’ experience in policy/advocacy influencing work at the EU, national or global level.
  • Knowledge about the European Union institutions and the EU policy making processes.
  • Knowledge about CRPD, SDGs, international cooperation, OECD DAC disability marker.
  • Experience in capacity building of civil society organisations and other actors on the rights of persons with disabilities, accessibility and inclusion.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • A high level of organisation, efficiency and an ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication (verbal and written) skills in English; other languages including Sign languages are an advantage.
  • Permission to live and work in Belgium
  • Experience of working and living in a variety of cultures and countries.

The post will be based at the EDF secretariat in Brussels. It is a year position with possibility of an extension if the funding is available. Frequent travelling in and outside the EU will be required for this position.

Gross starting salary: 3375€ per month plus benefits (Luncheon vouchers, Transport costs, Pension Scheme, hospitalisation insurance, …).
