As members of Climate Action Network (CAN) Europe, EDF is supporting the Build Better Lives Campaign to improve building quality and accessibility.
Part of the campaign is to encourage Member States to be ambitious when creating plans for renovation of existing buildings, as they are obliged by the EU Directive on Energy Performance of Buildings. These National Building Renovation Plans (NBRPs) can include criteria and indicators to make buildings more accessible. But since this is voluntary, we need to make sure national governments use these options fully.
To raise awareness of the importance of the plans in relation to accessibility, CAN Europe has launched an e-mail action in which you can directly e-mail national and EU-level decision-makers. The campaign is primarily available in French, Spanish, Italian, Bulgarian, and Portuguese and you will see that there is already a pre-drafted message you can send in those languages.
You can still send a message in English, but this will automatically go to the European Commission and can unfortunately not be sent to the other national governments. Nevertheless, please use this action to add also a message about the importance of accessibility in the NBRPs!
