Encourage your city to apply!
Do you know a city that deserves to be recognised for making itself accessible to persons with disabilities? Encourage them to apply!
For the 12th year, the European Commission has launched a call for applications from cities that make effort to advance accessibility of their public and private areas, such as housing, work environments, transport, recreational and cultural facilities, and communication technologies, to persons with disabilities. We at the European Disability Forum support the European Commission’s initiative to celebrate these cities and encourage more cities to become inclusive and accessible for their residents and visitors.
The Access City Award is open to cities across the EU with over 50,000 inhabitants.
- Award: as last year, there will be financial awards for the cities that win first, second, and third place.
- Special mention: this year, there will also be a special mention to reward a city that has made outstanding efforts to make their train stations accessible for persons with disabilities.
- Deadline: applications are open until 8 September 2021.

Get involved in your national juries!
If you are an EDF national disability council or member organisation that was involved in the national selection process last year, please let the European Commission know who will participate in the national juries from your organisation this year. Kindly send a confirmation email to secretariat@accesscityaward.eu, (please copy mher.hakobyan@edf-feph.org in your email) by 1 July 2021.
