Today, the European Commission announced the 5 finalists of the 2026 Access City Award.
The Award, which has existed since 2010, rewards EU cities that have prioritised accessibility for persons with disabilities. The Award focuses not only on existing accessibility but also on policies and plans to ensure the city becomes more accessible in the following years.
The finalists for this 16th edition are:
- Piacenza (Italy)
- Rennes (France)
- Salzburg (Austria)
- Valencia (Spain)
- Zaragoza (Spain)
This year, the European Commission also intends to award a Special Mention for Accessibility in Housing.
Award ceremony
The award ceremony will take place on 5 December as part of the conference “European Day of Persons with Disabilities“, which you can follow online.
