Thurídur Sigurdardottir Biography

She was paralyzed in an accident 2007 and has been in a wheelchair since then.  Iceland Chairperson of the ÖBÍ Icelandic Disability Alliance, a national umbrella organisation of disabled people with different kinds of disabilities composed by 41 member organisations from 2017. President of a local divison of the National Federation of Physically Disabled People (Sjálfsbjörg) in Skagafjordur district 2011-2017.  Vice-Chairman of the National organisation 2015-2017. CEO of a Printing and Advertising company in Skagafjordur 2004 – 2017: On the Board of Sjálfsbjörg-Home, an organisation for persons with disabilities, where people live independently in rented apartments from 2013-2017. She actively participated in ÖBI related workgroups on the implementation of the CRPD agreement, on Independent Living and many other disability rights issues.
