Project Coordinator - Ukraine programme

The European Disability Forum (EDF) is seeking an enthusiastic and committed consultant to work as a Project Coordinator, within our Ukraine programme.

EDF is a non-governmental European umbrella organisation set up to represent organisations of persons with disabilities at EU level. Its membership includes 106 member Organisations including European NGOs and National Federations of organisations of persons with disabilities. EDF’s mission is to promote the equal opportunities and human rights of persons with disabilities towards the European Union.

Overview

With our partners in Ukraine, EDF will start a new phase of our humanitarian programme, aiming to bring direct support to persons with disabilities affected by the Russian war on Ukraine. Our members in Ukraine will actively implement the programme, and you, as the Project Coordinator, you will play a vital role in managing the CBM International/ German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO) humanitarian project in Ukraine.

As the coordinator of this project, you will plan, organise, and implement EDF humanitarian project in Ukraine. You will be responsible for overseeing the entire project lifecycle, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of services, and managing project resources effectively. Your leadership and expertise will contribute to the successful execution of this project.

The project

The project outcomes will be to improved living conditions and access to inclusive humanitarian assistance in the sectors of food and livelihood security, protection and health, including mental health. We will focus on at-risk internally displaced people (IDPs), returnees, veterans, older people, single-headed households, adults and children in institutions, and members of host communities with and without disabilities in Ukraine. This will be done in direct collaboration with EDF members in Ukraine: the National Association of Persons with Disabilities (NAPD) and League of the Strong (LoS), with you based in Ukraine.

The outcomes will be achieved through complementary inclusive activities in the sectors of Food Security & Livelihoods, Protection, Shelter and Health: (1) provision of cash and voucher transfers for food, non-food items and shelter; (2) strengthening access to inclusive primary health and rehabilitation services; (3) provision of inclusive Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services (MHPSS) at community level, including strengthening of referral mechanisms; (4) raising awareness of the rights, humanitarian needs and best interests of persons with disabilities within and outside the humanitarian coordination system; and (5) strengthening the capacity of the local partners to manage a scaled-up humanitarian response for the target group.

The ideal candidate has:

  • Commitment to EDFs mission and values
  • Proven experience (min. five years) in managing and implementing humanitarian projects in complex and challenging environments.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., International Development, Humanitarian Studies, Project Management) or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of humanitarian principles, standards, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including project planning, coordination, reporting and monitoring.
  • Excellent leadership abilities, with experience in managing diverse teams and fostering a collaborative work environment in a network context.
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Ukrainian, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels. Knowledge of German an advantage.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Experience in the disability field an advantage but not essential

The post is based in Ukraine, with the position finishing in December 2024. Frequent travelling within Ukraine and in the European Union will be required for this position. The consultant is responsible for their own taxes.
