The European Disability Forum (EDF) has replied to the European Commission’s public consultation on the Declaration of Digital Principles. This consultation follows up on the Digital Compass Communication, to propose a set of principles that should define the ‘European way’ for the digital society. One of the objectives is to have a joint inter-institutional declaration of the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council on these principles, based on a proposal from the European Commission.
Even though this initiative is not a ‘hard’ law, it will set the ground for further EU digital policy discussions. We have therefore highlight accessibility, rights and digital participation of persons with disabilities at this early stage to ensure they are considered in EU’s digital agenda.
