We are pleased to present our 2024 Annual Report: A year of contrasts.
We celebrated major victories in 2024, including the European Disability Card, the European Regional Disability Summit, and the G7’s Solfagnano Charter. Disability-inclusive obligations were secured in new EU laws, and our push for accessible elections gained record media attention.
Yet, a global backlash on human rights and shifting EU priorities risk undermining these achievements. Disability was absent from the new European Commission’s guidelines. Our united response with equality networks has had impact but we must stay loud and united to safeguard the progress made.
We would like to specially highlight:
-
European Disability and Parking Card
The EU approved a new law strengthening the European Disability Card and improving the European Parking Card, meeting most of our key demands. -
Directive on Combating Violence Against Women
The EU adopted new rules protecting women and girls with disabilities, including stronger rights and harsher penalties for crimes against persons with disabilities. -
Standing with Ukraine
We delivered life-saving aid and promoted inclusive, barrier-free reconstruction in Ukraine, reaching over 70,000 people since the start of our programmes. -
EU Elections and Disability Advocacy
We defended voting and candidacy rights, pushed for accessible political information, and secured the re-establishment of the Disability Intergroup in Parliament, now with 60+ MEPs advancing disability rights.
