On the week of 3 to 7 October 2022, we organised a meeting in Brussels with our partners working on the EDF Ukraine project. The meeting gathered representatives from the eight countries covered by the project: Ukraine, Moldova, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Romania and Hungary.
Sharing and learning
The main aim of the week of meetings was to enhance the implementation of the project by learning, sharing and attending trainings together. On Monday and Friday, we ran participatory and interactive sessions about identifying expectations, learning about each other’s work and planning for the future. The sessions focused on potential national or international collaborations between the partners.
On Tuesday, we received training from the specialist organisation International Location Safety on Personal Security Awareness (PSA) and organisational Security Risk Management (SRM). For these security trainings, the group split into two.
Wednesday morning focused on Stress Management and well-being. In the afternoon, we hosted a teambuilding exercise in a local museum.
Engagement with EU and UN
Thursday was a full day of in-depth exchanges with officials from the EU institutions responsible for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid (DG ECHO), Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR), Migration and Home Affairs (DG HOME). We also had representatives from the Diplomatic Service of the European Union (EEAS), as well as from the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) and the European Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE).
The October meeting on Ukraine represented an excellent opportunity for learning and exchange.
The Ukraine project runs from April 2022 to April 2023 and is financially supported by CBM.
