A concise experience-sharing session on building an Organisation Representing Persons with Disabilities (OPD) that is visible, credible, and genuinely useful to society.
This online session explores what makes an OPD modern and attractive today. Vilmantas from the Lithuanian Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted (LASS) will share practical insights on leadership, communication, and building a strong, collaborative team culture.
The discussion will focus on how OPDs can move from “asking” to positioning themselves as trusted experts who create value for their members and the wider community, with concrete reflections on visibility, engagement, and long-term relevance.
Vilmantas Balčikonis is Vice President of the Lithuanian Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted, actively engaged in international work with the European Blind Union and the European Disability Forum, and nationally leading advocacy on information accessibility and inclusive education.
