On September 23rd, The European Disability Forum, in collaboration with the Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology of the European Commission, hosted a “Discussion on the Web Accessibility Directive”.

The Web Accessibility Directive, adopted in 2016, set 23 of September 2020 as the date by which all public sector websites across the EU would have to be accessible for persons with disabilities. This online event goal was to mark this important milestone for digital accessibility and participation in the EU.

Key stakeholders highlighted achievements and remaining challenges in terms of practical implementation of web accessibility from different perspectives, including policy makers, Member States, activists, users, academia and accessibility professionals.
